Question: “Constitutional Conventions are archaic and serve no useful purpose in the contemporary constitution.” Discuss

Answer: A Constitution can be basically defined as, “a body of rules which regulates the system of government within a state,1” ( Papworth, N, 2006, pg. 3), this means that a constitution is the rules that are given out in order to allocate correctly, powers and responsibilities through the officers of the government. In UK we have an unwritten constitution, another way of saying this is, that we have quite a few “non legal conventional rules”2, (Marshall G, 2001, pg 4).
